Conference Background
About
The 5th International Social Development Conference (ISDC2024) comes at a critical juncture as the world grapples with the multifaceted impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond the economic toll, the pandemic has exacerbated social inequalities, cultural disruptions, ecological damage, and political instability, revealing deep-seated vulnerabilities within our societies. To address these emerging challenges, innovative approaches are urgently needed to bolster community resilience. ISDC2024, themed "Innovation and Cross-Discipline Collaboration in Social Development for Transformative Change," aims to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, encouraging the development of new solutions that can mitigate the socio-economic impacts of the post-pandemic era. This includes strategies that promote inclusive economic growth, equitable access to resources, and opportunities for sustainable living, as well as strengthened social safety nets for marginalized groups.
In addition to socio-economic concerns, the COVID-19 crisis has precipitated a global mental health challenge, with widespread psychological stress affecting individuals across all demographics. ISDC2024 underscores the importance of integrating mental health into the broader social development agenda. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, the conference seeks to develop innovative interventions and support systems to promote psychosocial well-being, strengthen community resilience, and reduce the stigma associated with mental illness. Moreover, the pandemic has highlighted the digital divide that limits access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Addressing this requires joint efforts to bridge digital gaps, promote digital literacy, and leverage technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create an inclusive digital ecosystem. ISDC2024 also emphasizes the urgency of tackling climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation through collaborative, sustainable, and just solutions. By providing a platform for international dialogue and partnership, ISDC2024 aims to drive transformative change, advance social justice, and promote sustainable development through collective action and solidarity.
